2023 E6-CR and Basalt
fibre type study licensable data

There’s increasing interest in the long-term performance of alternatives to E-glass fibres. It’s generally known that carbon fibres have excellent environmental resistance – but at significant cost, so this study focuses instead on the performance of lower-cost alternatives, such as E6-CR glass and basalt fibres.

These are evaluated in combination with two epoxy infusion sytems, one of which is also combined with a typical E-glass fabric. The results demonstrate how performance improvements are possible relative to the E-glass baseline, and also how key traits vary depending on the choice of reinforcement.
